I took my first photography class around 1970 when I was still in elementary school, where I learned the basics of film processing and chemically printing using an enlarger. In high school, I went on to take several photography courses, which included various photographic assignments given out by my excellent instructor, processing of both color and black & white films, and entering photos in the school’s annual photography exhibitions and contests. Perhaps my greatest experience was taking 100s of photos of infamous Van Nuys Blvd. Cruising in the San Fernando Valley on Wednesdays nights in the late 1970s (around the time that William Sachs’ Van Nuys Blvd. comedy movie came out in 1979 with the tagline: “The Greatest Cruisin' in the Land Takes Place on the Street -- Where it all Began ..."). Nearly all of these photos were shot by handheld cameras without the aid of a flash by pushing Kodak 400 Tri-X black and white film. Most of these photos focused on the various hot muscle cars that cruised up and down the boulevard along with some of the interesting cruisers and spectators. The photos were so popular that my friends and I even set up a small area where we sold some of the photos. Overall, these photos captured what would become the last of the great boulevard cruising era before it was shut down for many years.

While attending and graduating from California State University Northridge, I more or less fell into the profession of archaeology because of my love for Western history, where the basic job entailed the evaluation of land for cultural resources as part of the development process following various state and federal laws. This endeavor took me to places from San Luis Obispo County to the Mexican border (including numerous projects in the City of Malibu, in Los Angeles County, as well as places in the more central and eastern portions of California). During this time, most of my photography focused on documenting archaeological findings and property conditions. While this website is owned and operated by PAST, INC., we retired from performing on-site archaeological studies in 2025 (although, we plan on sharing some of these “archaeological” photos and commentary on various projects at www.PAST-INC.com).

Other side photography projects over the years included: photos for websites (including being the designer and webmaster of several), social media, events (mainly car shows [no weddings]), discreet boudoir and nudes, maternity, landscapes, portrait, etc. Today, my photographic work will continue to focus on these endeavors and I sincerely hope you enjoy some of these images.
